Preshti, In collaboration with the Symbiosis Law School, Pune, conducted an awareness program during which the initiative put together a street play, depicting the conditions of prisoners in Indian jails, which proves that our criminal justice system is not progressing towards reformation but still believes in the retributive system of punishment. It stressed on the violations of fundamental rights, prominently Article 21 of the Indian Constitution, which confers upon all the Right to Life, Dignity and Personal Liberty, including prisoners. The play depicted how prisoners are kept in unlawful solitary confinement for years together. Moreover, the play highlighted the importance of rehabilitation of prisoners back in the Indian Society to prevent further criminal activities.
